Fall Salmon Season

The Season is upon us!

Floats and Skien on the Centerpin
Kings on Cranks
New StealthCraft
Starting September 1st I start booking trips for fall salmon. Tossing crank baits or fishing skein under a float for these fish in the lower sections of rivers is as about as exciting as it gets. Book a trip and fish in comfort on my new StealthCraft jet sled and hook into the most powerful fish of the year the King Salmon.

Back from Alaska

Spent the summer guiding for the Naknek River lodge in Alaska.
http://www.naknekrivercamp.com/

The lodge is located in the  Katmai National Park on the Naknek river witch flows into Bristol Bay this is the home of the largest wild salmon run left in the world today and also the home to the worlds largest resident rainbow trout.

The hours were long and the work wasn't easy but I was able to fish some of the greatest fly fishing water on earth, meet clients from all over the world, fly on bush planes to remote rivers, and come face to face with a couple of grizzly bears (literally, face to face). The fishing of course was amazing, with a ten pound rainbow being my greatest catch from Alaska. We also caught arctic char in Contact Creek, dolly varden and artic grayling at Margot Creek and rainbows in the Brooks river to go along with all of the sockeye, pink, king and silver salmon from the Naknek.

Alaska is pretty tough on the equipment though, broke a lot of fly rods, but I will be prepared for next year.  I am already missing the giant trout of the Naknek and am looking forward to a full season at the lodge next year.

Back home salmon have already started to show in the northern rivers of Michigan and this fall should be another good run judging by the reports from the big lake this summer, then before you now it the fish we wait all summer for, chrome fall steelhead, will be here.

Give me a call to set up a trip, booking salmon trips starting September 1st.
