December 8, 2014 From Fall to Winter

Alex and I with a beautiful winter fish on a guides day off.

Been a strange fall/early winter, cold rain, snow, and wind for most of November made for tough conditions, but we still managed to find fish when we did get out.

Forecast for the middle of December looks like we should have some enjoyable weather for some winter steelhead and trout, give me a call and book a trip today.

The guys from Canada made the trip again this fall for some more great Muskegon river fishing.

Lots of nice browns this fall!

Good mix, early fall, late fall and winter arrivals.

Browns, browns and more browns, Gotta love the MO!

October 28. 2014 Time of Transition

Things are changing fast on the  MO, salmon are fading and there are already good numbers of fresh steelhead in the system and we have made the switch to targeting these hard fighting chromers along with the all the big resident trout!

Nothing fights like a fresh fall steelhead, with all the eggs in the water and constant feeding makes the next couple weeks the best of the year for lots of action!

The new boat is fishing awesome everything is set up just right to spend a fall day in complete comfort.

There are plenty of kings still in the river.

But our main focus now  is steelhead and trout.

October 2, 2014 Fall Fishing in Michigan

Salmon have started slow this year but are starting to pick up!

Normally this time of year the salmon are stacked on gravel at Tippy Damn and the flies only water of the PM but as of this week things are still pretty lean, and the Muskegon as usual is far behind with salmon just slowly trickling into the system. More fish are showing every day and we are still finding plenty of fish, just have to work a little harder this year compared to the last few years, but every year is different you just have to adapt.

Give me a call to set up your trip and enjoy some of the best fishing of the year!

Big ManisteeKing!

Early chrome from the Big Manistee
Jack.

Less salmon but more steelhead is a good thing.

I have even had a chance to get home a couple times to toss thundersticks with my dad.

August 28, 2014 Another Alaskan Summer Comes To An End

Heading back to Michigan soon, after another great summer in Alaska.

Going to take a little time off to rest and relax and then it will be time get everything ready for the upcoming fall, winter, and spring steelhead seasons in Michigan.

Kings have started to show in the PM already so you know it wont be long before the battle for the big uglies will begin on our West Michigan streams, but beautiful chromers will be soon to follow!

Book your date now for a great day on the river.

Pics from the last couple weeks in Alaska.

Momma and the kids.

Had a lot of fun early in the summer with the kings.

 Fresh king on the swing.

Not bad accommodations but living in a tent in Alaska for the summer gets a little old, looking forward to getting home.

Naknek Rainbows! My absolute favorite fish.

Monster Alaskan Pike on the Fly.

Chum Salmon.

Lake Trout.

Grayling.
Pink Salmon.

The camp Fox. He hung around the first part of the summer but when grizzlies show up all the other animals go into hiding.
Arctic Char.

And the last salmon of the summer, the Silvers (Coho).
