June 18, 2013 Spring Browns!

Trout fishing was great on the MO and the White the past few months. After the high water finally receded there were plenty of big hold over trout to be found throwing big streamers.

April 23, 2013 The Great Flood

We had some great fishing the last few weeks of March and the first week of April on both the Muskegon and the White but once the rain started and pushed the rivers above flood stage it has been tough to fish at all the past three weeks. Things are finally looking up this week with flows dropping and water clearing we will back on the MO full time. There should be plenty of fish around in May due to the late spring and cold water, give me a call, I have open dates starting next week.

Nice winter buck from March the MO

Spring fish where starting to show the first week of April just before the floods came

March 15, 2013

Sorry for the lapse in reports, been pretty busy. Spring is coming slow this year but fishing has bee solid, nothing like last march when it was 75 degrees and the run was epic, there are still lots of fish around with fresh spring fish mixing with wintered fish. You can also check out my new website at www.muskegonriver.com for more pics and reports.

A few pics from this week.

Staring to see some beautiful spring chrome.

Lots of these guys hanging out when the air temp comes up, gotta love the stone flies!

Stone flies, stone flies, stone flies!

January 19, 2013. Family Day

Had my dad and my cousin Joe out for a trip to enjoy the last day of warm weather before the big cold snap and I was able to put them on some nice fish.

One of Spring lakes finest, Sergeant Joe, with his first Michigan steelhead!
This guy and my dad where actually the ones who introduced me to trout fishing at Ruby Creek when I was seven.

Joe and my dad with a nice winter fish.

Pretty cool that they were together when my dad landed his biggest resident brown ever and Joe landed his first steelhead. Lots of nice trout mixed in all day long.

Nice big hen for myself. One of the advantages of fishing with friends, the captain gets to swing a fly here and there.

My dad with a nice buck after we warmed up with a delicious venison shore lunch.
Great day on the river. Lots of boats on the water trying to enjoy the warm weather so we covered a lot of water but we managed to find enough fish to make for a memorable day.

January 11, 2013.

Water came up nicely last week with the rain and the snow melt.
Fishing continues to be good even through the slowest part of winter.

A couple of big winter bucks from the past week.

Nice buck I picked up fishing a little trib this week while exploring on my day off.

January 5, 2013 Starting the new year off right.

John and Roman made a great father son team today despite the rapidly dropping river. We put some big steelhead and a nice lake run brown in the net on an afternoon trip.

John with a nice winter Muskegon river steelhead.

Roman keeping up with his dad.

Lake run brown trout, the real crown jewel of winter fishing on the Muskegon.

Another big buck steelhead! Thanks for a great
afternoon John and Roman.
